POLICE in Darwen have renewed their appeal to people to be more security conscious following an increase in burglaries and vandalism.
Officers particularly highlighted the Harwood Street and Crewdson Street areas of town which have suffered a number of break-ins during the past few days.
Motorists are warned to make sure their vehicles are properly locked and alarmed and to ensure that they do not leave anything in sight to entice thieves.
In the latest incident, a Ford Escort Ghia worth £500 was stolen from Harwood Street.
At around the same time a house was broken into in the same street although nothing was stolen.
A Nissan Primera car was also badly damaged in Crewdson Street at the weekend after vandals smashed the window and dented the roof.
