A THEATRE group will celebrate its 20th anniversary with an up-to-date version of the classic love story "Wuthering Heights".
Turnpike Community Theatre writer Jo Shepherd has adapted Emily Bronte's famous novel to fit modern times and it will be set between 1975 and 2004.
Now she is seeking a cast of five women and eight men aged 18 or over to take the roles.
The company started its life in 1984 with a production of "Twice Around the Turnpike" and over the years has provided an outlet for local talent in all aspects of theatre.
Jo decided on the Wuthering Heights adaptation following her success with Romeo and Juliet and the show, with live music, will be directed by Neil Gredecki and the Twelve Apostles' Club, Leigh, in June.
The story tells of the obsessive love affair of Catherine and Heathcliff from early childhood and their separation and jealousy leads to the destruction of their lives.
Auditions are on Tuesday, January 20, and Thursday, January 22, at Westleigh High School Drama Studio from 7pm to 9pm. Further information from the director on 01942 702597 after 6.30pm.
