Woking 2 Leigh RMI 0 by Martyn Hindley: LEIGH RMI completed a festive period of doom and gloom at the Kingfield ground as two early moments of defensive mayhem saw them slip to a fourth successive defeat.
Woking followed Chester City (twice) and Accrington in taking advantage of the Railwaymen's current kindness at the back and they had just 16 minutes to wait until the first goal came gift-wrapped for the hosts.
Scott Canham's corner picked out an unmarked Neil Sharp and the defender took the opportunity to head past Ian Martin from close range. Martin showed no signs of deflation after exiting the 6-2 mauling against Chester 48 hours earlier with nothing to show from a man of the match performance.
But he was left high and dry six minutes later when Martyn Lancaster and Steve Redmond cruised different wavelengths, allowing Amos Foyewa to burst through and thump the ball into the roof of the goal past Martin's right hand.
Foyewa had already missed a golden opportunity to put the Railwaymen on the back foot when, from the first attack of the match, he couldn't control a cross from Richard Harris and headed well over the crossbar.
Redmond's next moment of hesitation allowed Raphael Nade through, but the nippy striker's attempted lob was extremely weak and Martin made a comfortable save. The visiting goalkeeper was made to earn his wages a few moments later though when Richard Harris dug the ball from under his feet only to be denied by Martin's flailing legs.
The deficit could have been worse when Michael Johnson cut inside and struck an upright with a thunderous effort from 25 yards.
Leigh were just about within sight at the interval but without their midfield workhorse Wayne Maden - sidelined with a broken nose - their forays forward were largely ineffective and their day was summarised with Dave McNiven's shot on the hour, which was tipped around the post by Ashley Bayes.
