A THIEF made off with cream eggs to the tune of £121 from a supermarket. Burnley Magistrates' Court heard how ex-convict Alan Shapcott, 32, had been a heroin addict for 10 years but he promised a judge he was doing his best to kick his habit.
Shapcott told District Judge James Prowse he was going to Narcotics Anonymous and if he kept up his attendance funding was available for him to go into rehabilitation.
The judge bailed the defendant until January 26 for a pre-sentence report and said he was considering a community rehabilitation order to work alongside Shapcott's own efforts. Shapcott, of Hilary Street, Burnley, admitted theft.
