POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two men pushed a woman to the ground and stole £70 from her purse.
Officers from Nelson are investigating whether the robbery could be related to other incidents in the area.
The 50-year-old was walking across waste land near Walton Lane just before 3.50pm on Wednesday when two men approached her from behind.
They pushed her to the floor, reached into her handbag and took £70 in cash from her purse, before running off in the direction of the Bradley area.
The woman was treated at Burnley General Hospital for injuries to her wrist and cheek.
The robbers are described as being of medium build and both wore dark coloured parka-type jackets with fur hoods pulled over their faces.
Anyone with information about the robbery should call Nelson CID on 01282 472644.
