A WHALLEY company director escaped a driving ban after arguing it would cause him and his business exceptional hardship.
Kevin Preston, defending, told Blackburn magistrates that Graham Layzell travelled all over the country in his capacity as a self-employed civil engineer running his own company.
And he said that a ban under the totting up procedure would affect the workers who relied on Layzell for their employment.
Layzell, 48, of Mitton Road, pleaded guilty to speeding on Accrington Road, Whalley, where he was caught doing 41mph in a 30mph zone. He was fined £100 with £30 costs.
Mr Preston said Layzell's work was dependant on him being able to travel to various construction sites.
