STAN Ternent has ordered Burnley to "buck up" and collect eight more wins to save their season.

The Clarets boss acknowledges his side are down among the dead men in the fight for First Division survival.

And he is demanding an instant improvement to their league form, starting at Crystal Palace tomorrow.

Ternent said: "We're in a situation that we haven't been in for some time, certainly since we got promoted to the First Division. We're down among the dead men, so we've got to buck up. We've got 20 matches to play and we need to win eight of them in my view.

"If we do that, we'll have First Division football. If we don't we'll be relegated - and I've no intention of getting relegated!"

Ternent remains confident the Clarets can pull away from the dreaded drop zone over the coming months.

And he could receive a welcome boost ahead of the trip to Selhurst Park by adding hamstring victim Glen Little to his squad.

The mercurial winger has made a miraculous recovery from the injury he picked up early in the Boxing Day defeat at Crewe.

And Ternent, who does have an injury doubt over Arthur Gnohere, explained: "I'm hopeful Glen has a chance of playing.

"I'm not saying he will, but we will certainly take him down with us and leave it right until the end, even if I can get him on the line and he can perhaps give me 20 minutes or so."

Ternent also revealed he may renew the chase for Bolton's Delroy Facey if the striker remains with Wanderers when the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

Facey, who is out of contract in the summer, made his first Bolton start of the season in Saturday's 1-1 FA Cup draw at Tranmere.

And Burnley are keeping a close eye on developments at the Reebok.

Ternent said: "Del played in the first team at Bolton, but I think Sam would like to sell him.

"We're not in a position to buy him, so when the transfer window closes at the end of January, we can ask, and see what happens.

"He played against Tranmere, and I'm not picking Sam's team, but I'm almost certain he'll play in the replay and if they got through that, he would play in the next round towards the end of January.

"After that, I don't know what will happen.

"If he's still a Bolton player in February, then we'll have a look.

"But we still have to pay wages as well, so isn't just as easy as that at the moment."
