WITHOUT a doubt the camera on Queen Victoria Road, Burnley (A6114), is entirely aimed at earning revenue. I came to Burnley in 1970 and the speed limit from the lights at Brunshaw Road through Belvedere Road and up to the roundabout at Briercliffe Road was 40mph.
It was changed to 30mph and inside three months a camera was installed. This is a very wide road with open spaces on both sides. I use it nearly every day and it is a physical effort to stay at 30mph going through the camera. Once through the camera, without exception, all traffic speeds up.
