TWO new 24-hour CCTV cameras have been installed in a Blackburn shopping area.
The state-of-the-art surveillance tools are set up in the New Bank Road parade, in the Corporation Park ward.
Residents raised had concerns with Blackburn with Darwen Council and police about community safety issues, as well as the need for improvements. So a partnership between local businesses, the police and the council started the work.
Donna Hall, executive director at the council, told a public meeting for residents in the area that following on from the CCTV cameras, new bike stands, plants and new railings will be built.
Shop fronts are also to be improved, she added, as well as the introduction of new kerbing, resurfacing and time-limited car parking.
Businesses will be invited to sponsor the plant pots.
