POLICE are anxious to speak to witnesses after reports of a possible abduction of a 10-year-old boy.
Officers received reports of a young boy being forced into the back of a red saloon car in Skipton Road, Colne, at 5pm on Sunday.
Police have not yet received a missing person report, but are keen to speak to anybody who may have been in Skipton Road at the time of the incident.
Two young males and an elderly man, walking his dog were seen in the area.
A police spokesman said: "We have not received any reports of any missing children in Lancashire and are continuing to talk to the person who reported seeing this incident.
"Fortunately, abductions are extremely rare and it's often just a case of children arguing with their parents. However, we always take reports like this seriously.
"We appeal to anybody who thinks they may have witnessed this incident to contact us."
The vehicle is described as a red, two-door saloon, possibly a Rover, with two grey lines running from the doors and around the rear. It has a white football on a blue background hanging from the rear windscreen.
The driver is described as a male in his 30s, 6ft tall, with dark shaved hair, wearing a dark black jacket, dark trousers or jeans and black boots.
The boy was believed to be 10 years old, wearing a white or beige coat with dark stripes down the sleeves, beige tracksuit bottoms with stripes down the sides. He was wearing an adidas baseball cap.
