A NEW poster featuring missing Fylde teenager Charlene Downes is to be sent out to every police station in the country.

The poster, headlined 'Missing, Can you help?', features 14-year-old Charlene smiling for the camera in a snapshot taken shortly before her disappearance on November 1 last year.

It is now nine weeks since the schoolgirl vanished from her family home on Buchanan Street, Blackpool.

A team of more than 30 officers is currently assigned to the police investigation into Charlene's whereabouts, led by Detective Superintendent Paul Buschini.

As reported in The Citizen (January 1), police released a picture of a pair of black jeans identical to those Charlene was wearing when last seen.

It was hoped that the jeans, which have a distinctive gold eagle motif on the front, would help to jog witnesses' memories

But so far the last reported sighting of Charlene was from a friend who left her on North Pier in the resort at around 9.45pm.

Forces in Greater Manchester and Wolverhampton have already assisted in the search but it is hoped the poster, which has been produced in conjunction with the National Missing Persons Helpline, will reach a wider audience.

Charlene is described as 5ft 1in tall, of slim build with straight shoulder-length dark brown hair and blue eyes.

When last seen she was wearing a black jumper with white diamonds, black boots and the black gold eagle jeans.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police on 293933 or the National Missing Persons Helpline 0500 700 700.
