A TEENAGER has been charged with attempted murder after a man sustained serious stab wounds on the doorstep of a house.
The 20-year-old man, who has not been named, was taken to Blackburn Infirmary's high dependency unit after the incident.
His condition was today described as stable.
Police said they were called to Gretna Walk, off Whalley New Road, Blackburn, at 6.45pm on Friday after receiving reports of an incident outside a house on the estate.
Police said there had been reports of shouting and of the front door being kicked.
The 20-year-old man suffered three knife wounds to the back.
Police searched the area with the help of the Lancashire Police helicopter.
Four men were arrested and taken to Greenbank Police Station in Whitebirk for questioning.
Martin Simm was later charged with attempted murder and violent disorder while Matthew Ashton, Sean Threlfall and Scott Allison were also charged with violent disorder. Police said the men were all in their late teens and lived in the area.
They were due to appear at Blackburn Magistrates today.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Gary Dunnagan said: "I have no doubt that there will have been people who saw what happened because there are houses all around the scene."
DS Dunnagan said police were still searching for a knife believed to have been used in the incident.
