A SUPERB second half comeback from Clitheroe earned them all three points in a cracking match.
The home side dominated the opening period, and Liam Ralph gave them the lead after just four minutes with a 25-yard shot.
Further chances fell the way of the home team, with an Ian Varley header coming back off the post and Scott Weir wasting another good headed opportunity.
The Blues failed to apply any real pressure to Trafford in the first period and were probably lucky to be only trailing by the one goal at the interval.
The second half saw a rejuvenated Clitheroe display and two quick goals after the restart put them in front.
On 48 minutes, Lee Cryer reacted quickest to poke home a Barrie Hart cross.
Then substitute Steve McDonald scored the goal of the game. He picked the ball up inside the opposition half before a weaving, mazy dribble took him past four or five men. As he reached the penalty area he calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper.
Glynn Barker made it 3-1 on 67 minutes with an excellent looping header as Clitheroe made the most of their pressure.
Trafford didn't give up the fight though and pulled a goal back on 80 minutes through Scott Weir.
The Blues were able to hold on though in a tense finale, and with league leaders Mossley losing to Nantwich, they reduced the gap at the top of the table to six points.
