THE RAMS blew a two-goal lead in this scrap at the bottom end of the NW Counties First Division table.

Another enforced change between the posts saw the debut of Steve Lyons, drafted in on loan from Unibond outfit Droylsden. Further injuries to Luke Hardman and Gareth Gardiner, and the suspension of Chris Clark, meant that manager Vince Overson had to select a side from an already depleted squad.

Glossop opened the scoring through their prolific striker Garry Kharas only seven minutes into the match.

The Rams equalised through an unstoppable shot from Lee Buggie, and on 31 minutes took the lead through a scrambled effort from Robbie Smith.

Minutes later this became 3-1 after the impressive Smith delivered an inch-perfect cross for the onrushing Ian Dyson to power home a bullet header from eight yards.

Glossop were allowed back into the match on 77 minutes when Hamilton headed home from inside the six-yard box.

In injury time, Kharas's goal-bound shot appeared to be expertly cleared off the line by Smith, but the referee deemed that he had used his hand. Following an instant red card for Smith, Kharas stepped up and slotted the ball calmly past the Lyons.

, to send the home crowd into raptures.

Once again the Rams failed to hold onto a lead that they had gained and unless the Rams can learn how to defend properly they will be undone on many more occasions. Vince Overson will certainly need to establish solidarity in the Rams defence because despite some indifferent performances they always look capable of scoring goals. A trip to Newcastle Town awaits next Saturday and following their defeat at local rivals Bacup Borough, the Rams will surely go into the match with aspirations of coming away with a result.

Man of the match was Robbie Smith.
