nTHE Burnley Garrick Club is celebrating its 75th anniversary. To mark this milestone a season of special plays has been chosen, the showpiece being Twelfth Night, the club's first ever Shakespeare production.
Magic, mayhem and mirth are promised in the production, with a cast that includes Alan Hargreaves as Orsino, Alan Bailey as Sir Toby Belch and Adrian Hartley as Malvolio.
The show will also have music from local musician Alan Whitham.
Director John Cummings, fresh from the success of Harvey, promises a lively and entertaining production, which will be staged at the Burnley Mechanics, Manchester Road, from Wednesday, January 21, until January 24, at 7.30pm. Ticket prices range from £3.50 to £6. Call 01282 664400.
.nBLACKBURN Drama Club will celebrate its 60th anniversary on January 30 at the Astley Bank Hotel in Darwen. There will be a sit-down buffet and speeches from the president, chairman and two past members, Coronation Street star Madge Hindle and Bill Shaw, who will talk about The Pleasurable Problems Of Being An Actor. The meal starts at 8pm, but guests can arrive any time after 7pm.

nA HEARTWARMING production that's ideal for the frosty, January weather will be staged by St Cuthbert's Society between January 19 and 24.
The Queen of Hearts, a pantomime written by Wilfred Miller, will run at St Cuthbert's School, Lynwood Avenue, Darwen, at 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.15pm.
