MRS J Walsh of Pringle Street, Blackburn writes on behalf of residents concerning the lack of a bus service in her immediate area (Letters, January 6).
However, Blackburn Transport run a Number 9 bus which goes along Lincoln Road, Pringle Street (top end), North Road, Romney Walk, Queens Road and Queens Park Road.
This bus route is only a short distance from where Mrs Walsh wishes the bus to go. This route also serves many elderly people.
With respect, bus companies are not going to run buses on every single street and have to run at a profit. I understand that the reason buses do not run on the lower half of Pringle Street is that when they did not enough people used it to make it pay.
Mrs Walsh and other residents should contact the Transport Department at the council to see if a minor route change would be possible in conjunction with Blackburn Transport.
MUBEEN MULLA, Ripon Street, Blackburn.
