RHYS Carpenter was the goal hero as Burnley reserves clocked up their second win in a week to haul themselves off the foot of the table.
Table-topping Walsall were no match for a rejuvenated Clarets second string, who followed up last week's 2-0 romp at Huddersfield with an even more impressive victory on the road.
Boosted by the inclusion of first team regulars Dean West and Alan Moore, Burnley made the early running and Moore rattled the Saddlers bar with a fierce free kick.
Carpenter was then sent racing clear approaching half time, but was denied by keeper Dean Coleman in a one-on-one.
But in the 68th minute, Carpenter got his revenge with a smart close range finish to inflict only Walsall's second defeat of the campaign.
Reserve team boss Ronnie Jepson said: "I couldn't have asked for more and I'm delighted with the lads.
"Walsall are top of the league, but we battled away and it was a good performance.
"All the young lads played particularly well again and Rhys scored a nice goal to cap things off."
Burnley: Hale, West, Pitham, Townsend, Hunter (Carter) Pilkington, O'Neill, Booth, Harrison (Taylor) Carpenter, Moore. Subs not used: Pugh, Ince, Avery.
