MORE students than ever can now study from home thanks to technological advances at Burnley College.
Pupils at Burnley College's annual IT prize night were told how computer provision within the college has expanded over the years and now serves more than 1,200 students studying in this field.
John Smith, Burnley College principal, said: "The IT division has seen tremendous growth over the last seven years and has responded by ensuring a high quality, innovative IT programme for the people of Burnley and its surrounding area.
"We currently have 218 students studying seven different full time courses ranging in level from Pre-Foundation up to Higher National Diploma.
"More and more students are choosing to study from home or the work place.
For the first time a student from the IT division won a national award, achieving first place in the National FE Skills challenge web page competition.
Jahidul Uddin scooped the prestigious accolade who produced cutting-edge web pages and had the opportunity to go to London and be presented with his award by the under secretary for state for education.
Mr smith added: "Our challenge is to maintain our excellent achievement rates and the high grade profile that our students achieve.
"We aim to do this while continuing to provide the highest quality industry relevant courses successfully delivered in an imaginative and flexible manner to students from all walks of life."
