LUKE Chadwick has vowed to pick up the pace and rediscover his best form to help steer Burnley to safety.
The on-loan Manchester United winger admits to suffering a dip in recent weeks following a blistering start to the campaign.
Chadwick reckons a toe injury sustained back in October has since blighted his stop-start season.
But the former England U21 ace reckons that is no longer an excuse - and after making a full recovery intends to dig deep to help the Clarets cause.
Chadwick said: "The injury has cleared up now, but my performances haven't been up to scratch and I am not back to my best by any means.
"It's just not happening for me at the moment, but I'm sure if I keep working hard then hopefully I can put my game together and the breaks will come.
"Obviously the injury stopped my progress and I've not been at my best since, but I feel good in myself and I'm still very confident I'll be back to my best soon.
"I feel as good as ever, and fit and strong, and hopefully I'm just one good performance away from kick-starting the season again."
Chadwick's next chance should come in Saturday's Turf Moor showdown with promotion chasing West Bromwich Albion.
Burnley are in quietly confident mood after comfortably reaching the FA Cup fourth round at the expense of Mansfield, and following that up with a hard-earned point at Crystal Palace last weekend.
Meanwhile the Baggies, despite their lofty position, have picked up just one win in six games following a dismal run.
Albion are also sweating on the fitness of midfield playmaker Jason Koumas for the Turf Moor trip after the Welsh international suffered a knee injury last weekend.
And with Burnley chalking up two successive clean sheets, Chadwick remains confident the Clarets can continue building a platform to haul themselves away from the First Division danger zone.
He added: "It's a new year and a new start and we haven't conceded a goal which has given us a base to build on.
"Hopefully now we can pick up a few victories, but it will be a tough game because West Brom are a top team in this league.
"They are a massive club and one of the favourites to go up, but we will be up for it in front of a big crowd and hopefully we can put a dampener on their progress, get the three points and move up the table a bit."
