NOW that Lancashire Safety Partnership's manipulation of the necessary criteria for speed cameras has been shown for what it is, will they take a leaf from Blair's promise to resign if he was shown to be lying?

Back in the real world, the huge improvement in driving after the ban on using mobile phones in cars, which came into force on December 1, leads me to suggest that LSP take a look at two other areas where safety is continually flaunted One, faulty headlights and Two, signal-jumping.

Travelling back from Radcliffe the other day, five out of the first 10 cars had missing or faulty headlights, with two from the next five -- an overall seven out of 20, which is by no means unusual.

On the same journey, two cars jumped lights, causing cars to make emergency stops/swerves as they cut in front of them. On the presumption that LSP has access to accident data, perhaps the statistics for these two highly dangerous practices would allow them to relocate the 53 'illegal' yellow perils at signalled junctions, where they would pick up BOTH offences and instigate action?

Or am I just being stupid?
