A MILLION households in North Lancashire, including Rossendale, were asked to stop using automatic washing machines and dishwashers to save water.
The measures were needed as 600 workers at the North West Water Authority were on strike.
A new medical centre at Blackburn Royal Infirmary was nearly completed just two and a half years after the appeal was launched for money to build it.
