EMPLOYEES facing redundancy at a stores' distribution depot are organising a goodbye bash.
When the Ashton-based KwikSave Distribution Centre closes down on January 30 its remaining 70 workers feel it will be a sad loss to the area.
They have set up a five-strong committee to organise a final farewell and are appealing to everyone who has worked at the company in the past 30 years to get together.
The centre, which distributes to 168 stores in the north, including Leigh, has been running staff numbers down in the past six months.
Picker Chris Sanderson, who has been with the firm for 22 years, said: "We have organised a disco and buffet at the JJB Stadium on March 6. We feel it will be a nice way to say an informal goodbye to everyone who has worked there. It has been like one big family and we are sorry to see it go."
The firm is relocating to St Helens and though a few staff will move there most are seeking new employment.
Tickets for the event are £10 and are available by ringing committee member Dave Winstanley on 01942 274531.
