MORE old folk will be able to enjoy day care at Redcliffe elderly persons home in Prestwich.
Work starts next month on a custom-built extension at the Hilton Lane home, taking the number of places available from five to 12.
Council bosses say this will provide much-needed places in the Prestwich area, promised during the shake-up of social services which led to several residential homes being closed, including Claremont.
The scheme is costing the council around £100,000, and should be completed by May.
Councillor Mike Connolly, executive member for health and social services, said: "At the moment, day care clients use the residential home itself, the same lounge etc. This will create a separate facility, with a shower, disabled toilets, dining and social areas and a summer patio."
