A DESIGNER shoe shop in Holcombe Brook has been targeted by raiders for the second time in five months.
Ramraiders struck at Mini Me at the shopping precinct in the early hours of Sunday (January 11). But security measures once again prevented them from stealing specialist children's designer footwear.
Business partner Heather Peet said: "This time the raiders failed to get past the metal shutters and the police were on the scene very quickly. Again it is thanks to our security system that nothing was stolen.
"But the damage to the shop has been much worse. The shop front will have to be replaced and we have had to board up the windows. The display stock has been ruined by the glass."
Mini Me opened in March of last year by Mrs Peet and her neighbour Mrs Kerry Burrows. Raiders first struck in August but the thieves fled as the alarm, connected directly to the police, went off.
"Last time raiders struck at a busy time, and now again when it is the sale period," said Mrs Peet.
But she insisted that she would not let the criminals put her out of business.
"We are devasted and angry that this has happened a second time. It is very upsetting. Although we are not sure when we can open again, but we will open," she said.
A silver Vauxhall Astra was found abandoned on Kendal Road West soon after the attempted robbery. Tests are now being carried to establish if it was the car used in the raid.
Witnesses are asked to contact Ramsbottom Police Station on 0161 856 8181.
