THE Friends of Walverden Park will be holding their first meeting of the New Year on Monday.
The group will meet at St John Southworth Social Club, Vaughan Street, Nelson, at 7.30pm
The meeting will discuss topics including the recently completed bulb planting project and funding for projects within the park.
In addition the parks development officer, Kathryn Stackhouse, will also be on hand to advise on funding and future projects.
The Friends of Walverden Park group is just one of six friends groups formed to work with the council to help improve the parks and contribute valuable ideas for the future of the parks in the borough.
Regular meetings are held to discuss a variety of issues including projects that are of particular interest to the group.
Fred Stewart, parks outreach officer for Pendle Council, said: "The meetings help to develop valuable ideas for the future and provide ways to improve the parks. All residents and friends are welcome." Friends groups have participated with fun days and clean up days to take care of the area environment.
