UNIONS holding a one-day stoppage in support of a better pay deal looked like bringing chaos to East Lancashire.
Certain hospital workers, school meal attendants, school care-takers, sewerage workers and grave-diggers were planning the strike.
A bus driver and passengers had a lucky escape when the vehicle skidded on black ice in Queen's Park Road, Blackburn.
