MORECAMBE players flew out for one of the club's more unusual assignments on Sunday - the launch of a new joint venture between club sponsors Umbro and fashion brand Dirk Bikkembergs.

The team and management jetted off to Milan - the fashion capital of Europe - to take part in a fashion show alongside players from teams including the mighty Inter Milan.

Manager Jim Harvey says: "It was a great honour for everyone involved at Morecambe to be part of this fashion show. This sort of life may be bread and butter for international stars but really was a unique opportunity for the lads here."

Nick Crook, UK marketing executive for Umbro, says: "It was a great chance for Morecambe FC to enjoy some of the glamour that comes with football as they helped celebrate Umbro's new venture with one of the world's top designers."

o MORECAMBE have tabled an official bid for Chester City's Michael Twiss. The club has offered £5,000 for the former Leigh RMI player who has long been a target for manager Jim Harvey but is out of favour at the Deva.
