NEW playground equipment designed for disabled youngsters has been unveiled at a South Shore park.
A ramp for wheelchair access, a wide slide, and activity panels were officially opened at Watson Road Park by Blackpool sportswoman Rochelle Woods and deputy mayor, Cllr Granville Heap.
The equipment, which cost £10,000 to supply and install, was funded through an insurance claim after part of the playground was set alight. The council decided the park was the ideal location for the new equipment after research showed the southern area of Blackpool had the highest number of disabled children in the borough.
The £45,000 playground, which opened last March in Kincraig Park off Kincraig Road, took the name thought up by 12-year-old Nathan Grundy in a competition run at nearby Kincraig School.
