A LATE try from Slater, his second of the game gave Leigh Miners U11s a 24-24 draw with Rylands Sharks.
After Slater opened the scoring for the Rangers, Ryland Sharks equalised through a clever chip kick over the Rangers defence. Rangers worked the ball back up the field and scored the best try of the match as the ball was passed all along the line for Mikalaiskas to score near the corner.
Two breakaway tries by Rylands meant the Rangers trailed at half time by 12-18.
The second half saw Rylands score again to extend their lead but for the first time in several matches the Rangers did not let this affect their confidence. Ratcliffe, who had been causing the Sharks problems all match with his wide running bursts, scored Rangers third try before going off injured. Slater scored his second try when he burst over the line right under the posts for the equalising try.
Although the whole team's performance was excellent, some good individual efforts came from Cox, Slater, Walker and Ratcliffe who deservedly took the MOM award.
