A DENTIST who crashed his car at a pub in Chapeltown was nearly four times the legal drink drive limit
Blackburn magistrates heard a police officer saw Walter Rollo Gray staggering up the drive of his Turton home where he fell against a BMW.
When the officer approached Gray said "I'm not a threat to society, I walked home."
Gray, 49, of Horrobin Fold, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. He was ordered to do 120 hours' community punishment and disqualified from driving for 30 months.
Gray, who gave a reading of 133 against the legal limit of 35, agreed to be referred to the drink driver rehabilitation programme which, if completed successfully, would reduce his ban by up to 25 per cent.
Clare Fanning, prosecuting, said Gray had reversed into a car as he left the Cheetham Arms on High Street, Chapeltown, at 8.50pm on November 25. After a brief conversation with the owner of the parked car, who took his car keys, Gray walked off.
Andrew Church-Taylor, defending, said when Gray had got home from work an argument developed and he left the house and went to the pub.
