Unthouchables were finally kicked into touch in the final of the annual Bangor Street football festival.

It looked like they would go all the way but no matter how they tried in the final they just couldn't get past Brookhouse United keeper Omhar Mahmud. He was in outstanding form throughout the day and gave an impressive display in the final helping Brookhouse keep their 1-0 lead.

Brookhouse had reached the final after beating Bicknell Boys 2-1 in the semis and Untouchables overcame AC Milham 5-1 in their semi-final game.

The tournament attracted ten under 14s teams and a mention here for the side from Bank Top. They fielded a team of ten and eleven-year-olds and even had a girl in their midst. They lost all their games bar one for which we think they should be given a special award. Other teams on the day included, Hyndburn United, Darwen Rangers, Daneshouse and Accrington.

Umar Hussain who organised the tournament told us, "Last year it was freezing cold and this year we had wind and rain all day. We might not get any luck with the weather but we're really lucky with all the interest shown."

The tournament was funded and supported by the Healthy Living Centre, NSF (Neighbourhood Support Fund) and the Community Development team at Bangor.

Special thanks to Mohammed Khan, Anser and Asif Hussain for their help.
