AN "underpants man" showed bare-faced cheek when he conned a Bury hotel out of £160.
Now, bosses at the Bolholt Country Park Hotel are warning businesses in the area not to fall victim to the scam.
The trickster entered the busy Walshaw Road hotel and demanded cash for clearing a blocked drain. He presented staff with an invoice, saying that a pair of underpants had blocked the drain over Christmas and he had answered an emergency call to clear it.
The conman quoted the names of a manager and another colleague and said that they had authorised the payment.
A spokesman for the Bolholt say that despite the man being caught on their CCTV system, they were told by police there is insufficient proof of a fraud.
The spokesman added: "We would like to warn other local businesses of the danger of such a convincing fraudster who may try it elsewhere."
