HAVE the people on Bury Council completely lost their marbles? Why don't they give people proper warning about their ridiculous and haphazard parking regulations? Each car park in the town centre seems to have its own payment system.
Take my case. We decided to look for a new kitchen so we visited MFI at the Moorgate Retail Park, parking in the free spaces provided for their customers. When we emerged from the store, we found a parking ticket and a request for £30 had been placed on our car, and that the only way to challenge it was to speak to the parking attendant. We tried to find him but after a half-hour search, we discovered that he had gone home. If we came back the next day we might find him working as a security guard in Comet!
I have neither the time nor the energy to run around after parking attendants; I would rather shop elsewhere.
We do not want obscure signs; rather clear notices which shoppers can actually see. All the current system seems to do is drive business away from Bury.
