CHART-topping group Liberty X -- which includes East Lancashire's Kevin Simm -- have been slammed by safety campaigners after filming their latest video on a railway line.
Rail safety groups fear the video for Everybody Cries -- which entered the charts at number 13, the lowest entry for the band in their three-year history -- could wreck their work to keep youngsters off railway lines.
But Kevin, of Abbey Village, near Blackburn, hit back, saying a previous video which showed them stealing diamonds didn't lead to a rise in jewellery shop raids.
The Rail Safety and Standards Board wrote to the group, and their record company V2, to complain about the video after watching a promotion of it.
A spokesman said: "We spend millions every year clearing up damage and trying to encourage youngsters not to go near railway lines, which are very dangerous." A statement issued by the band - made up of Kevin and four other members - said they did not want people to copy them or walk on railway tracks.
It said: "We are concerned that anyone might be encouraged to trespass on railway property, which is illegal as well as dangerous."
