IT seems obvious from your articles on speed cameras that this exercise is more concern with raising revenue than road safety. One area where road safety could be greatly improved is the traffic lights in Blackburn and Hyndburn. They desperately need updating; you cannot make a right turn without going through a red light, which I believe is breaking the law!
This leads to frustration causing drivers to make rash and dangerous decisions. Also with the increasing number of yellow boxes being painted on the roads this manoeuvre is almost impossible to achieve without breaking the law and driving through a red light.
Money spent on this and other non-revenue traffic calming measures such as speed bumps would reassure motorists that the people responsible are treating motorists responsibly and trying to make the roads safer.
