THE long arm of the law will reach into two schools in Burnley later this month as officers attempt to foster links with pupils.

Lanehead community beat manager PC Richard Collopy and police community support officer Sian George will hold surgeries at two of the schools in one street of their beat on January 30.

The surgeries will be held at Casterton primary at 9.30am and at St John's at 1pm.

Pupils will be able to chat to officers about their work and look round the CCTV van which will be parked in the school grounds.

PCSO Sian George said: "As a police service we are bery keen to engage with our local communities and in particular to build stronger bridges with local youngsters.

"We already do a lot of work in schools and colleges and these new surgeries are intended to build on that.

"Throughout the course of the say we will be available to any pupils who want to ask questions about the police or seek advice or information.

"We will also be happy to show them round our CCTV van and explain how this and other equipment is being used to help us win the fight against local crime."
