R&B singer Ms Dynamite is helping educate young East Lancashire women about their health.
Blackburn with Darwen and Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale are among 75 Primary Care Trusts using a new magazine to promote local services.
Your Life! - produced with independent healthcare information provider Dr Foster - is full of celebrity interviews, health features and tips. But each issue also contains localised information about NHS services.
For example, in the Blackburn with Darwen edition, there is a feature on teenage pregnancies which includes contact details for services such as the SELF Youth Health Team. The edition also includes a feature on how to stop smoking.
The magazine format was chosen because Dr Foster found young women were a difficult audience to target with health information. Both editions are now available, free of charge, at hospitals, GP surgeries, pharmacies, leisure centres and other venues.
In the first issue Ms Dynamite exclusively reveals her positive experience of giving birth in an NHS hospital and how her life has changed since the arrival of her son, Shavaar.
She is just one of many celebrities, including Ricky Tomlinson and Martine McCutcheon, who have contributed.
Ms Dynamite said: "The magazine is a really good idea. It should help young women find out about all the help available to them in their area."
There are 62 different editions of the magazine as some adjacent PCTs have collaborated on a regional edition. Participating PCTs paid £5,500 for 20,000 copies of Your Life!
But 227 PCTs chose not to get involved, including Hyndburn and Ribble Valley.
However, Mike Hammond, corporate services manager for Hyndburn and Ribble Valley PCT, said they had not ruled out getting involved with future editions.
David Peat, chief executive of Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale PCT, said: "The Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale edition provides local people with local information in a way that is fun to read and relevant. It contains important information on health issues and services. We are looking forward to hearing readers' views."
