A DECISION on whether to allow a landfill site and waste-transfer station in Darwen to continue for the next decade will be made this week.
Two planning applications have been submitted to Blackburn with Darwen Council by Edmund Proctor Ltd, at Bent Hall Farm, Bull Hill.
They ask for permission to extend the period for the disposal of waste materials until August 27, 2013 and to continue the use of the waste-transfer station, including the sorting and recycling of waste.
Landfilling operations have taken place on the site for many years to improve agricultural levels and the last planning permission was granted in 1993.
The permission is expected to be granted subject to a satisfactory restoration plan being agreed in writing with the local planning authority and set in place within one year of the planning consent.
The decision will be made on Thursday by the council's planning committee.
