AN inquiry into the future of Parliamentary seats in Lancashire was due to be held today.
The Government's Boundary Commission for England has drawn up plans for the reorganisation of boundaries which would increase the number of Lancashire seats from 15 to 16 with an average of 67,000 voters in each.
Boundary changes would affect Parliamentary seats in East Lancashire and two MPs have spoken against the proposed changes.
Darwen and Rossendale MP Janet Anderson and Blackburn MP Jack Straw have both expressed opposition to having the new ward included in their constituencies.
The Boundary Commission has recommended that the new Fernhurst ward be included in Mr Straw's Blackburn seat.
Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans was also expected to speak at the inquiry which was due to get under way in Preston today.
