A MAN suffered a fit and spent three weeks in hospital after being attacked in Blackburn town centre.
The 29-year-old was attacked on December 18 in full view of Christmas shoppers, inside the three day market complex.
Afterwards, he walked out of the centre into Ainsworth Street where he and suffered a fit, which police say was brought on by the attack.
He suffered head injuries and was taken to Queens Park Hospital, where he stayed until earlier this month.
Now police are until for witnesses to come forward to help with their inquiries, including a woman who kept the victim comfortable while the ambulance arrived. DC Keith Rimmer of Blackburn CID said: "He has been punched a few times and as a result he walked out on to Ainsworth Street and had a fit brought on by the assault.
"The offenders have been identified but we have no witnesses except the aggrieved. It's believed that two girls and possibly a couple who had a young child with them witnessed it.
"We are appealing for these people or anyone else who may have seem the assault to come forward. The town centre would have been very busy with Christmas shoppers."
