I HAVE no particular regard for Robert Kilroy-Silk, seldom watch his programme and have not read his notorious article. However, the wider issues highlighted by his treatment disturb me greatly. What, exactly, was his crime?
He has 'offended' a remote, minority elite and sundry unelected bodies, who arrogantly take it upon themselves to decide for the majority what they find acceptable.
I wonder if the target of his criticism had been America or Americans there would have been such an outcry, I doubt it. Free speech is somewhat selective these days.
This bizarre tyranny of the minority over the majority is democracy turned on its head. I can only hope it cannot be sustained indefinitely and that someone will have the courage to challenge its despotic hold. If not, the future for this country is very bleak.
