I HAVE never had cause or the inclination to write to a newspaper before I feel I cannot resist any longer. I am sick to death of reading the blurb from Darwen Councillor Dave Smith.
Sure as eggs is eggs, as soon as letters appear from the public of Darwen (LET, Mr Gordon, January 6 and Mr Walsh, January 9, 2004) we get another tirade from Coun Dave Smith (LET, January 14).
Dave Smith should be concentrating his efforts on supporting his ward electorate and fighting for the views of Darwen people not championing the cause of Blackburn (with Darwen) Borough Council.
All he results in doing is antagonising Darwen folk. The evidence is there for all to see, Church Street, the new Orbital Route, etc.
Full marks to Mr Davies, Mr Gordon, Mr Walsh and co, for continuing to express the views of many Darwen folk.
Yes Mr Smith, I don't live in your ward either (LET, January 13, 2004). I think Mr Walsh was merely making the point "local councillor" meaning Darwen councillor. I don't live in Paul Browne's ward either, but whenever he makes any public comments, at least he sticks up for our town.
B ARDIS (Mr), Cloister Drive, Darwen.
