BLACKBURN Under 15s are through to the quarter-finals of the North West Alder-Owen Cup afer beating Mid Cheshire in their first Round clash.
The local lads suffered an early set back when they went behind to a first minute goal but they bounced back to level the scores mid way through the first half when Jack Regan scored from close range after the home keeper had
saved from Jordan Hamilton.
Kieron Hopkinson shot Blackburn in front just after the restart and neither side could add to the scoreline in a lively second half despite chances falling to both teams.
The Under 15s switch their attentions to the Lancashire League this weekend, facing Pendle at Pleasington on Saturday (10.30am).
Blackburn Under 14s' North West Woodward Trophy first round match against Sefton was postponed but they are in action this Saturday, weather permitting, when they take on Pendle in a Wrennal Trophy match at Pleasington, kick off 10.30am.
Burnley Under 15s have a Lancashire League match at Blackpool on Saturday and Rossendale Under 14s travel to are up against Preston in a Wrennal Trophy match at the Preston Arena.
Lancashire Under 19s will be looking to finish their Northern Counties group in style when they meet Greater Manchester at Stanley Park, Blackpool on Saturday, kick off 11am
The Red Rose county must win this game by five clear goals if they are to make it into the semi-finals. Merseyside are already through with Greater Manchester in second spot.
