ST PHILIPS, fighting for the promotion spot in the Second Division, may well have lost their chance.
They could only field seven players against Independent A, and lost the game 9-7.
Leaders Stanhill B recorded a huge win over Whitehall and second placed Tag took a comfortable victory over Teleom A. Clitheroe B recorded a win over YMCA C which also puts pressure on the leaders.
Olympic A took over as leaders of the Third Division after their win over lowly Clitheroe D.
Perhaps the most exciting game of the week was at Salesbury where the home side finished on the wrong side of the scoreline against St Nicholas, the visitors being the only team in the Third Division who have not been defeated.
Towards the foot of the First Division, bottom side Halsteads entertained Clitheroe D. With both these teams fighting to survive, Halsteads were unable to react to the strength on the night of their visitors.
With what turned out to be a huge win for Clitheroe, this result could have well decided the fate of Halsteads.
This victory pushes them up the table, so Stanhill A, BAe Systems and YMCA B could all be in trouble and the next two to three weeks could well sort out the relgation battles.
The youngsters from Westholme C continue to improve as they gain experience. This time they outplayed St Matthew's. The mid-table clash between Olympic B and Stanhill C resulted in the expected win for the home side, allowing Olympic to climb the table.
