YOUNG Argentinian midfielder Gaston Sangoy has been given a week to prove himself while on trial at North End.
PNE have confirmed that the 19-year-old has come from Buenos Aires' side Boca Juniors, after North End's chief scout Clive Middlemass was tipped off about his availability.
And Sangoy's first taste of what life in the English First Division would be like couldn't have been further removed from South America - he trained with the Preston squad at Tulkelth High School on Monday.
He may get a chance to prove himself in Wednesday's reserve fixture against Rotherham.
Middlemass said: "He has a clean slate and has to prove himself. He has been suggested as a player to look at, and we don't know much more than that."
Meanwhile, David Lucas' loan period at Sheffield Wednesday has been extended for another month.
But Preston have included a 24-hour recall clause in the deal, ensuring the Preston-born keeper can cover for Jonathan Gould at short notice if need be.
