YOU ask if political correctness has gone too far? When shops sell 'gingerbread persons,' people in charge of committees are addressed as 'chair' (apparently to be sat on and crushed) and one cannot criticise in public or private, any other nation then yes political correctness has gone too far!
But ask yourself if it has gone far enough. I can stand in the street and shout about America and France, I can call our Queen and the heir to the throne, Charles, anything I choose and it doesn't give any equality group cause for concern.
The hooked 'cleric' can stand outside Finsbury Park mosque and scream about his host country, Britain, the place he chooses to live and that doesn't give the Racial Equality groups any sleepless nights.
So the answer to your question 'has political correctness gone too far' is no. It only applies to certain groups and people. It is not all enveloping and it destroys freedom of speech for selected groups.
