THE Great British potato is to be celebrated at an open day in Lancaster next month.
Gardeners, allotment holders and just the plain curious are being invited to find out more about different varieties of the spud on Saturday, February 7.
The Gregson Centre in Moorgate will showcase different potato varieties in an exhibition - and will offer locals an opportunity to buy seed potatoes for this year's crop.
The 'Potato Day', open from noon until 4pm, will also offer a lunch menu specialising in dishes using the spud.
Lucia Marquart, of Lancaster Seed Savers, says: "Potato day is a great opportunity for people to find out more about different varieties of potatoes and try something new to grow in their garden or allotment this season."
Admission is free.
