DETECTIVES are trying to piece together the final hours of Paul Oakley's life.
Mr Oakley's body was found in the garden of a house in Golborne on Saturday morning.
The results of a post-mortem examination on the body have proved inconclusive and toxicology tests are needed.
Police say Mr Oakley sustained no obvious physical injuries and he was a registered drug user.
Detectives have conducted house-to-house enquiries after the occupants of a house in Knowsley Avenue reported finding the body in their front garden.
Police and paramedics were called, but the 30-year-old father of one, who lived with his parents Raymond and Doreen at Helen Street, Golborne was pronounced dead at the scene. A police spokesman said the discovery is currently being treated as suspicious as a matter of routine.
Detectives, who are trying to piece together Mr Oakley's final movements, today appealed to anyone who saw him on Friday night or Saturday morning to contact them.
The spokesman added: "We are working to find out how and when he collapsed and died."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Leigh CID on 0161 856 7249.
