A CLASSIC reworking of Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty delighted audiences at Blackpool's Grand Theatre on Tuesday night.
Moscow City Ballet's traditional choreography, sparkling and sumptuous costumes and graceful control gelled to create a superb performance.
From the handsome Prince Florimund (Anton Gueiker), who danced and jumped as if he was on a trampette, to the controlled and graceful moves of Princess Aurora (Elena Osikina), this was an elegant and enjoyable production, well worth the money.
It was a joy to see the corps de ballet dancing as one, and I particularly enjoyed Dmitry Puzyrev's panto-style portrayal of the villainous Fairy Carabosse.
The company stays at the Grand from tonight (Thursday, January 22) through to Saturday (January 24) presenting Giselle. For tickets, telephone the box office on 290190.
