A HANDFUL of patients in Bury have been contacted following a tuberculosis scare at Rochdale Infirmary.
An auxiliary nurse working on Sparthfield Ward has been diagnosed with the illness.
The hospital has sent out 213 letters to patients who were on the ward between November 1 and December 14. A few live in the Bury.
The risk to patients is said to be minimal. Those in high risk groups will be offered precautionary screening.
Dr Roger Glew, medical director for Pennine Acute Trust, said: "Patients who have been treated in Sparthfield ward during this time, and staff on the ward, should not be unduly concerned about this situation. Patients who were on Sparthfield outside of this time have nothing to be concerned about."
